Moving forwards with a pedal kick

Ideal for beam transitions
To prepare any drop off, or to climb small steps, but ultimately, for jumping from one beam to another, you'll need to hop using more the crank than just your legs. The "pedal hop", or "pedal kick", is the solution. Here is how you should try.

Excellent for crossing all sorts of gaps
Start balancing on the back wheel, on the edge to leave.
1° Lower slightly the front wheel, to get extra torque, then give a kick in the pedals while releasing the rear brakes, and pulling on the bars. 2° This should bring the back wheel, in one forward hop over the gap to the next edge. As soon as the back wheel lands, brakes full-on. 3° Bringing the back wheel and lifting the bars leads you to the initial position, hence in balance, but on the other side.
See the move in the animated version.

It takes a while to control the rear brakes to release the back wheel synchro with the pedal kick, and to block it right for landing sharp...Just practice...At the beginning, try to climb on the edge of a small kerb to feel the move.
You also need fat bumpy tyres, otherwise you'll hear the rim grind the stone, which is not the most pleasant noise.

The next step is to DROP OFF what you just positioned the bike for. See how to drop off
